Liberty
The hopeless romantic who believed in her novels—that’s who I was. Until betrayal shattered me.
I lived by the rules. The good wife. The respected professor. The woman who never crossed the line.
Then my world unraveled in truths I wished were lies.
Now, I don’t know who I am anymore. But I know what I crave. Something deeper. Something darker. Something real.
And he sees it in me. Colt. My first love. My greatest mistake.
He offers me a challenge—one that strips away everything I thought I knew about control. No love. No promises. Just surrender. His game. His rules.
I should walk away. But every time he touches me, I come apart. I tell myself I can play without losing… just one more time.
Colt
Liberty spent her entire life trapped in a self-made cage. Now she’s standing before me, silently begging to be set free.
She thinks she can control this. That she can take what I give and still walk away unscathed. She’s wrong.
Because the moment she lets go of her fears around desire, everything changes. When she embraces all her raw, uninhibited fantasies, she ignites a fire that could consume us both.
This isn’t romance. It’s dominance. It’s control. A game she swears she won’t lose. But she’s playing against me.
And when it’s over… she still won’t understand the power I have… Which means she’ll come back for more.
Will I break her?
Or will she break me?

CHAPTER 8 EXCERPT
Colt
She looked up at me, her brown eyes meeting mine, and there it was—the vulnerability I hadn’t seen in her for years. “He never said it outright, but I know. And after him…I just don’t believe sex can be anything other than what it was with him. It’s always been…mechanical. Like something I had to do, not something I wanted.”
I let her words hang in the air for a second, staring at her. She had no idea, no idea, how wrong she was about herself, about what she was capable of. I could see the doubt in her, the way she believed she couldn’t compete, like she was too old or too inexperienced to ever really enjoy sex. And that pissed me off.
“You really believe that?” I asked quietly, my voice dipping lower. “That sex and love have to be the same thing?”
She hesitated, then nodded. “Yeah, I do. If there’s no love, what’s the point? I don’t think I’d even know how to enjoy it without feelings involved.”
I studied her for a long moment, my mind spinning with possibilities. This wasn’t just about proving a point. This was about showing her something she’d never experienced, something she deserved to know before she spent the rest of her life thinking she wasn’t enough.
“Liberty,” I said, my voice steady now, my eyes locked on hers. “You’ve got it all wrong. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive. You can have one without the other.”
She furrowed her brow, looking skeptical. “What are you talking about?
I leaned forward again, this time my elbows resting on the table, closing the space between us. “I’m talking about you learning what it’s like to enjoy sex for the sake of it. No strings, no love, just you feeling good for once. You said it yourself—it’s never been about you. That changes now.”
Her eyes widened a little, but I could see the curiosity flickering there, even if she was trying to hide it. “And how exactly am I supposed to learn that?”
I let a slow grin spread across my face, leaning back again and taking my drink in hand. “We make a bet. More like a challenge than a bet. I’ll show you how sex can be about freely giving in to your desires. No attachments. You trust me, you let me teach you things you’ve never experienced. If at any point you don’t want to continue, it’s over. No hard feelings. But if you play along, I’ll show you that you’re still sexy as hell, still capable of enjoying yourself in ways you never imagined.”
Liberty scoffed, shaking her head. "That’s ridiculous. What exactly are we betting on?"
I let the moment stretch, giving the anticipation a chance to settle in her bones before I spoke. “You,” I said simply. “Your limits. Your desires. Your ability to let go.”
She swallowed, her fingers tightening around her glass. "And how exactly do you win?"
I smirked, watching her squirm under my gaze. "If you make it to the end—if you let me show you everything, experience it all, no running, no guilt—you win. You’ll see that sex and love don’t have to go hand in hand. That indulging in desire isn’t a sin, and neither is taking exactly what you want."
"And if I don’t?" Her voice was softer now.
I leaned in, lowering my voice to something just above a whisper. “Then I win. Because I’ll have proven that you’re too afraid to take what’s yours. That deep down, you’re still waiting for some fairytale, for some man to come along and tell you you’re enough.”
Her breath hitched, her pupils dilating. She was fighting it, but I could already see her resolve cracking.
"And what happens if I lose?"
I let my smirk grow, the promise of something wicked in my tone. "Then you walk away knowing exactly what you gave up. And knowing you’ll never be able to forget what it felt like when I touched you."
“And what is in it for you?” Her eyes locked on mine.
“Oh, you know proving you wrong has always been a hobby I enjoyed. And giving you mind-blowing orgasms, well that’s just a cherry on top.”
She exhaled shakily, looking away, but I wasn’t letting her off the hook that easy.
"It’s your choice, Liberty. The moment you say stop, it stops. No questions, no pressure. But if you say yes..." I reached out, tucking a loose curl behind her ear, my fingers grazing her skin just enough to make her shiver. "Then you’re mine until you win—or until you can’t take it anymore."
She licked her lips, her pulse fluttering in her throat. I could practically see the war waging in her head, her logic battling her desire. But I already knew how this was going to end.
