As a huge fan of Tillie Cole's A Thousand Boy Kisses, I was really excited for A Thousand Broken Pieces, which centers on Poppy's younger sister, Savannah. While it didn't quite hit the same high notes for me, it was still a touching and heartfelt story.

The book follows Savannah and Cael, two teens dealing with the loss of their siblings. Savannah joins a world tour for grieving teens, holding onto her sister's unread journal. Cael, a former hockey star, reluctantly joins the same trip after his brother's death. Together, they start to heal and find comfort in each other.

"Two broken pieces searching for a way to feel whole."

The characters are well-crafted and relatable. Seeing Savannah and Cael help each other heal was beautiful and moving. Tillie Cole's writing is heartfelt and captures the raw emotions of grief and the healing process. There were several heartbreaking moments that had me in tears, so maybe avoid reading this one in public if you’re prone to crying.

That said, the constant change of locations was a bit distracting for me, and I found it hard to fully connect with the characters at times. Plus, it didn't keep me as intrigued or interested as I had hoped. Overall, though, A Thousand Broken Pieces is a touching story about grief, love, and healing. It’s worth a read, especially if you’re a fan of Tillie Cole’s work.
