"Lunamare is a coming-of-age romance that fans of The Ribbon Duet will love." That sentence alone would've made me pick this book up. Lunamare is such a heartbreaking and emotional new adult romance. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the book because I know Pepper's M.O., which is breaking your heart and fixing it later. Knowing this is a duet I knew that heartbreaking would happen in this book, and hopefully the fixing will happen the next book. The relationship between Nerida Taylor and Aslan is the heart of the story, and I found myself invested in their journey from the start. I loved how these two met and seeing them grow closer together throughout the book. Nerida found Aslan in the sea and I absolutely loved how she an her parents Jack and Anna took him under their wings. Aslan is grateful and wouldn't do anything to jeopardize his situation and the trust of Jack and Anna.

Nerida really pushed Aslan's limits and went after what she wanted. I loved her courage and fearless attitude. However, I also appreciated that she took a step back when it was needed. The story is an emotional rollercoaster, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. I just know some horrible and tragic events were going to occur. Some of them I predicted but Pepper still was able to surprise me. The story does have some darker elements, and boy was she able to shock me with a particular scene. The character development in "Lunamare" is superb, with both Nerida and Aslan undergoing significant growth individually and as a couple. The fact that Aslan is Turkish makes me love this book even more, because I am Turkish! I loved all the Turkish sentences Pepper incorporated into the story. Pepper hit it out of the park with this book, and I am dying to get my hands on the next one!

Overall, "Lunamare" is a compelling romance novel that will leave readers eager for the second book in the duet. Pepper's ability to craft memorable characters and weave engaging plots make this book a must-read for fans of the genre.
