Release Blitz + Review: Northern Stars by Brittainy Cherry

Northern Stars by Brittainy Cherry is now live!

Series: Compass #4
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Hollywood's biggest star first belonged to me.

Breaking up with your high school sweetheart was one thing.
Breaking up with Hollywood’s favorite actor? That was a different situation.

I’d been in love with Aiden Walters since I was a little girl. We’d grown up as neighbors in small town Wisconsin. I knew him inside and out, and he knew every single piece of me. I was there when his career took off, and I was almost certain I’d always be a part of his life.

It wasn’t until a scandal broke out that I was forced to end things with Aiden. He didn’t take it very well. The boy I once loved began to hate me. He went off to California to leave all of his past behind—including me.

Five years later, he was back in town for the next few months taking care of some family business. He was staying in the only hotel in our small town. The hotel I now oversaw. For the next few months, I’d be forced to cater to a man whose heart I’d broken all those years ago. A man who resented me. A man who swore he’d never speak to me again.

Now that he was back in town, in constant connection with me, I had to keep reminding myself daily of why I ended things with him in the first place. Otherwise, I’d find myself falling in love with him all over again. Only this time, I was certain that if I fell, he wouldn’t be willing to catch me.

I think I mention it in all my reviews for Brittainy Cherry's books, she is one of my favorite authors and I adore her characters and stories. Her ability to write perfectly imperfect characters who are relatable is astonishing. She did it again with Hailee and Aiden. She delivered another great story with amazing characters. I fell in love with them and was lucky enough to join their journey to self-discovery and healing. I have a weakness for childhood friends-to-lovers. There is just something about seeing characters grow up and eventually end up together that warms my heart.

Hailee and Aiden's journey wasn't easy. It was full of heartbreak and emotional damage. They both have their own demons they have to battle and I loved that they took steps to deal with them. Especially Hailee was such a strong and fierce character. Her personal growth was phenomenal and I enjoyed seeing her overcome her insecurities. Aiden has been pretending to be someone else for so many years that he just completely lost himself and ended up playing a role in and outside Hollywood. Hailee was the person he could be himself with, and he needed her support in realizing that he could be his own person and that he was valuable. Their friendship was one of the cutest and I loved their bickering.

I loved how Northern Stars connected to the previous books in the Compass series. I thought it elevated the story. The writing was superb like always and I was able to fully connect to the characters. There was no unnecessary drama or miscommunication. Everything made sense and I thought the characters made the right decisions for the mindset they were in. Northern Stars is a fun but also emotional friends-to-lovers/second-chance contemporary romance. This is one of my favorite books of the year and I highly recommend it.
