Release Blitz + Review: Western Waves by Brittainy Cherry

Series: Compass #3
Genre: Contemporary Romance

I always believed in fairy tales, but he preferred horrors.

Damian Blackstone didn’t care about my existence. He came into my world for one reason only. He came to find answers about his past.

He moved like the villain in my favorite fairy tales. He wasn’t the one who received the happily ever afters; he was the one who destroyed them.

Which was why I couldn’t understand why the man who raised me set it up in his will for Damian and me to be married. I wasn’t certain I’d be able to live with a man like Damian. We were as opposite as any two people could be. I loved to bathe in the sunlight while he prospered in the shadows.

I didn’t think I’d develop feelings for the one who looked at me as if I were nothing more than a means to an end. Yet in his darkness, sometimes I’d see sparks of light. I’d see gentleness. I’d see his soul.

We became entangled with one another as we fell into mistakes and called them fate. I was his Cinderella, and he was my Beast.

I wasn’t certain that twisted fairy tales ended with happily ever afters.
Still, I was determined to find out.

“I promise not to be the worst parts of me, so you can be the best parts of yourself.”

Western Waves is an emotional contemporary romance. I was really looking forward to Damian's story because he didn't give a lot of away in the previous book, so I was pretty excited to see how he would reach is HEA. Damian is broody and grumpy workaholic who has been dealt a pretty bad hand when he was young. Growing up in foster homes and not being wanted has really messed him up. He finds out his biological father has passed away and left him millions, however, if he wants access to the money he'll have to stay married to his adopted daughter Stella for six months. Stella is the complete opposite of Damian, while he his dark and grumpy, Stella is bubbly and fun. After marrying each other Damian tries his best to avoid Stella, while she does her best to engage with him.

“All I want is you. All of you. Your body and your soul.”

Both Damian and Stella are dealing with childhood trauma, and they are both handling it differently. While Damian likes to hide in the darkness, Stella does the opposite and spends her time in the light. I just absolutely loved the organic development of their friendship that later turns into love. The author really took the time for the characters to get to know each other and become comfortable before sharing their insecurities and past hurts. Both characters were amazing and I especially loved how sweet and understanding Damian was. I completely fell head over in heels in love with him. This was a beautiful contemporary romance and I loved seeing the characters overcome their fears, and find peace and love together. I also loved that Connor and Aaliyah from the previous book made appearances in this book. Their friendship with Damian is amazing. I look forward to Brittainy's next book.
