“And marriage? What does Sage Cross think about marriage?”

She sighed, placing her head back on my chest. “I wanted it all as a kid⎯the groom, the dress, the whole shebang. After that night, things changed.” She shrugged. “I didn’t believe in happiness. The thought of marrying someone my father forced upon me repulsed me. But I can see myself marrying someone I love…I…what about you?” She angled her head up, waiting for my response.

She’s so beautiful.

“I didn’t see myself ever settling down before…”

“Before what?” she interrupted.

“Before you, silly.” I teased her, planting a kiss on her lips sideways. She turned around so fast and pinned me down, wrapping her arms around my neck. My hands tried to explore underneath her spandex tights, hoping for a squeeze as I kissed her ravenously, our need for each other insatiable. She moaned into my mouth, waking my dick the fuck up.

She broke our kiss, arms tied around my neck. “You really mean it?”

“Mean what? That I see myself getting down on one knee for you? That I want you to be my wife? That sometimes I see a little kid or two running around in my thoughts?”

She smiled and looked away. And my world ended. Seeing Sage smile was such a rare thing my heart melted every time she did.

“You’re all I see in my future, too. Except for the kid. I’m still young and I want to enjoy you first.”

I agreed with her.

“I have a question, but you don’t have to answer,” she added quickly, pausing before continuing. “Have you ever looked for your father? Or wanted to?”

I shook my head. “No. I used to hate him, ‘specially when mom died. I don’t anymore. I’m…indifferent to him. I don’t want or need him in my life. I’m past that.”
