The Truth About Lies is a story about Cora, a woman that has been dealt a very bad hand in life, and is trying to make the best of it. She is such a strong, caring, protective and loyal character. I loved how she handled herself in every situation. She is a housemother at a whorehouse and has been through some rough stuff. Did it break/bring her down? No, she came out of it stronger and more determined. She is definitely one of my favorite female characters. She is living a pretty chaotic lifestyle, and it becomes even more so when Penn and his brother Drew move in to replace the previous maintenance guy. She feels a strong attraction to Penn from the start, however he does his best to keep her on a distance. Penn lost his wife four years ago, and hasn't been able to fully mourn her. However, Cora is very hard to resist because of her bright personality, and piece by piece she gets Penn to drop down his guard.

This book was so good. It was original, entertaining, funny, dark at times, romantic, and also very emotional. Aly Martinez is such a talented author, and she keeps surprising me with her amazing storytelling abilities. She is one of my favorite authors and I always look forward to her next book. She did an incredible job with The Truth About Lies. She hooked me from the start, and at times I was on the edge of my seat because of all the things that could go wrong. You'll want to read this book in one sitting, because you'll want to figure out what is going on. I loved that the story was unpredictable and that the author didn't reveal everything at once. She revealed just the right amount to keep me intrigued and hungry for more. The writing was great, and I also enjoyed all the secondary characters. I can't wait for the second book in The Truth Duet to release, because the ending was crazy!
