Question One: BITE ME is about a nerdy high school senior who transforms into a vampirevixen, unaware that her hunky date for prom is the slayer sent to destroy her. What inspiredyou to write about vampires?
Louise: As a reader, sometimes I just want to read a book for fun. It’s the same thing as an author. In my day job, I write a lot of technical things that can be boring, so at night when I sat down to write fiction, I wanted to entertain myself. Like many readers, I can’t get enough vampire romance in my life, and BITE ME has humor mixed in, so hopefully it will make people laugh too.
Question Two: You mentioned humor, is BITE ME intentionally funny?
Louise: Yes, hopefully you find BITE ME to be laugh out loud funny. One of my favorite scenes is right at the beginning when Morgan is bitten. She’s in the bathroom, drying her hands on a towel, and a four-year- old vampire enters the room without knocking. Eighteen-year- old Morgan thinks to herself, “Don’t preschoolers understand about privacy?” This is a book that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Question Three: In BITE ME, Morgan has a special relationship with her Grandma Mimi, who’s a real fashionista. Was that character dynamic inspired by your own grandmother?
Louise: Yes, in fact I dedicated the book to my Grandma Gerry, who always wore stockings, a silk dress, flashy jewelry, and a full face of makeup. She had her hair done once a week at the salon.
Question Four: Are there more books planned in the Puritan Coven Series?
Louise: Right now this is a three book series. BITE ME comes out May 14 th , HUNT ME will come out a week later, and SLAY ME will be published in June of 2018. I want readers to be able to binge.
Question Five: What’s HUNT ME going to be about?
Louise: HUNT ME is a second chance romance about Morgan’s friend Esma, and her ex-boyfriend Chase. Here’s the hook: “An all-girls vampire camping trip turns deadly when a sasquatch hunter is accidentally killed.” Be ready to get sucked into the Puritan Coven!

A ten-year commitment? Who’d heard of such a thing? Sometimes Mom took her independence in a direction that made me uncomfortable. I walked down the hallway to the
entryway and into the powder room. A crystal chandelier hung over the toilet, and the air freshener smelled like spring rain.
Either Mom and Lukas were truly in love with each other, or they weren’t. And if it wasn’t true love, they were wasting their time.
I washed my hands at the sink and dried them on a lace-trimmed hand towel. Maybe I’d read too many romance novels, but I would never commit to someone on a wait-and- see basis.
Maybe that’s what Gwen meant about me being picky, but if so, I didn’t care. I’d rather be alone than with someone who was the wrong fit.
I hung the towel back on its hook and composed myself. If I showed one hint of disapproval, Mom would be all over me. I turned around to open the door.
But it was already open.
“Hello, Morgan.” Daris wore footed pajamas with dinosaurs on them.
“Um, hi.”
“I want to tell you a secret.”
“Great.” I tried to walk past Daris and into the hallway, but he blocked my path. Do preschoolers not understand about privacy?
“Bend down so I can tell you my secret.” Daris cupped his hands around his mouth like he was going to whisper something.
“Okay.” I scrunched down so I’d be at his level.
Chomp! Razor-sharp teeth sank into my neck. Wet, sticky blood oozed down my shoulder blade. The bright lights of the chandelier seared my eyeballs, and my knees buckled.
“Ouch!” I cried. But it was too late. My feet slipped out from under me, and I stumbled forward. My head thumped against the toilet, and I crashed to the marble floor.
