Book Tour: Snippet + Author Interview and Giveaway - Enchanted One by Lora Deeprose

Back Cover Blurb

“She wanted to live a normal life. He wanted to end it.”

Orphaned at birth and raised in a cloistered convent, Lizzie Chambers knows nothing of her parentage; even her name comes from the pages of a book. When she is forced to leave the convent, she soon finds out life is nothing like her cherished Austen novels. Trapped in an unhappy marriage and questioning her own sanity, her only solace is her beloved flower shop, Enchanted Garden.
When her husband is killed and her store burns down, both under suspicious circumstances, Lizzie finds herself fleeing a demon she has no clue how to stop or even why it has targeted her in the first place.
But Gideon York knows. As a member of the Order of the Triple Goddess he is charged with protecting Lizzie and others like her from the dark forces seeking to destroy these rare and powerful women.
When their growing attraction tempts Gideon to break his sacred vow and Lizzie's own powers threaten her new found family in the Order, she can no longer deny her destiny. To protect the people she loves, Lizzie must find the courage to face the demon alone and risk the ultimate sacrifice . . . her life.

Snippet

She felt her powers spinning out of control. She couldn’t stop it. She looked up at him, helpless to stop what she’d unleashed.

Author Interview

1- What’s your favorite thing about The Enchanted One?

I have two favorite things about The Enchanted One; one was the main character Lizzie and watching her developed her skills and finding her courage to walk her true path, the second was being able to write about magick. I love the idea of magick existing in nature and all around us if only we have eyes to see it.

2- What do you want readers to take away from The Enchanted One?

That in each one of us there is a little magick, and if we take the time to find out how that is expressed in us we can truly live authenticallyand with amazing results.

3- When you're not writing, what are you reading?

Everything and anything I can get my hands on. I recently finished A Ghost in Love by Jonathan Carroll, Bellman and Black by Diane Setterfield and Introvert Power by Laurie Helgoe, PhD

4- What was the most surprising part of writing The Enchanted One?

I thought The Enchanted One was going to be a stand-alone title and I was really surprised when halfway through the first draft I realized it was going to be a trilogy.

5- What is the easiest and hardest thing about writing?

The easiest part of writing is the first draft when the idea is still fresh. The freedom of the first draft truly is magickal. The hardest thing about writing is the last revisions before sending it out to the publisher. The perfectionist in me could keep tweaking the story forever but at some point I just have to let it go and get to the other stories in my head demanding to be written.

6- Tell us three things about yourself?

I am terrified of deep water so I became a certified scuba diver.
For several years I worked as a costumed interpreter at an historic site. Best job I ever had, aside from writing, because I got paid to dress up and play make-believe all day.
In my younger and more agile years, I belonged to a contemporary dance company.

7- What’s the best thing about writing?

Creating characters and their story and then sharing it with readers.

Lora Deeprose – Bio

“As a small child I dreamed of growing up to be a chestnut mare. I was terribly disappointed when I found out people couldn’t magically transform into animals but I got over it by immersing myself in the world of fairy tales and thus began my lifelong passion for reading and make-believe.”
Lora was born in the small town of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; the middle child of five girls. In 2006, she and her eldest sister moved to a hobby farm in the remote Kootenay area of British Columbia and for five years had several country adventures which included raising chickens and goats, encounters with wildlife and wrangling the neighbour’s horses. Currently she lives in BC’s Fraser Valley in a household of women spanning two generations of family with a collection of cats and a teacup Chihuahua affectionately known as Mexican Kitty.
